What is BSFT?
BSFT is an evidence based , structured, problem focused therapeutic intervention, that improves behavior, strengthens the family unit, and shows favorable long last results. This treatment model provides families with tools to overcome internal disfunction and seeks to change the way they act towards each other. The concept is simple, the therapist works with the family or couple to identify interactional patterns that lead to disfunctional or problematic behaviors within the relationship or family unit.
Engaging in this specific type of family/couples therapy will assist the clients in making changes to the neagive patterns and ecourage positive involvement and interaction with one another. The therapist is very directive in this approach, providing restructuring guidelines in the moment of the session. Enhance highlighting the problematic interactions, and providing the clients with insight to their own behaviors and communication style.
BSFT is a collaborative, directive approach, meaning most of the work is done together with the therapist present in the session.
